Despite a welcome lack of Disneyfied sentimentality - no tears are solicited for banged-up young'uns - the film never acquires a rhythm. Jeannette Catsoulis-New York Times Dull, meaningless and pretty frustrating film. Derek Adams-Time Out If they're never fully convincing as photo-realistic figures, they're certainly as much good gory fun to watch as any old-school monster kids had to stick with dreary first acts to see. Alan Scherstuhl-Village Voice (The filmmakers) make the creatures' varied plights unexpectedly amusing and disarmingly moving. The CGI quality runs hot and cold...(but the film) is gripping, droll and poignant in equal measure. Fr. Chris Carpenter-Movie Dearest Plays like a series of cut-scenes from a 1997 PlayStation game. Edward Havens-FilmJerk.com Dinotasia is narrated by Werner Herzog with his customary shock and awe. Philip French-Observer [UK] [A] well-meaning but listless compendium of unconnected prehistoric CG dino-vignettes that is as sure to bore children as it is to bemuse adults. Adam Lee Davies-Little White Lies Werner Herzog's grandiose, unintentionally camp narration adds entertainment value, but there's zero educational sustenance in the film's servings of synthetic gore. Simon Kinnear-Total Film This decision to avoid treating the dinosaurs as surrogate people for easy identification is both the film's boldest move and the source of much of its problems.
