Ultimately, the music that Fry first heard as a child "on my father's gramophone" comes first for him, and much of the pleasure of "Wagner & Me" is that Fry lets us see how art transforms him. Moira MacDonald-Seattle Times

While the doc offers some insights into the pervertion of art for ideological purposes, too much of it simply finds Fry standing in dumbfounded awe of the holy sites that populate his journey. Andrew Schenker-Time Out New York
Even when Wagner & Me seems uneven as an art historical study, it's fairly successful as a travelogue. Joseph Jon Lanthier-Slant Magazine
